Does Maybach really count? I though it was just an option of the S-Class now.

And not gonna lie, if it was my money going into a uber-luxury car. I'd probably go for the Bentley.

Should add in Maserati since they run a near exotic niche like Jaguar. Would also be curious where you see Porsche, potentially Alfa Romeo, plain old Land Rover, and the top end Koreans.

For me it's a 3 way tie between MB, RR, and Bentley at the top...then BMW second, Audi a close 3rd, then everyone else I can't be bothered with.

I think the problem with brands like Cadillac/Acura/Lincoln/Chrysler/Infiniti is that they don't have any range-topper halo cars to really compete with ze Germans and the Brits. No matter what cars they beat or what they improve on, Mr. Upwardly-Mobile Exec will want to show off his promotion at Goldberg and Goldberg in the flashiest way possible. It's the S-Class, A8, 7 Series, and XJ that define the image of the entire lineup, and thus move sales of the cheaper cars like the C-Class, A4, 3 Series, and XF. Why should Mr. Upwardly-Mobile Exec buy a fully loaded Cadillac or Acura when he can buy a 3 series and drive the same brand as his boss? Caddies are for daddies and wtf is an Acura?

Then you have the oddball "mid-luxury" brands like Buick and Volvo (and formerly Mercury and Saab) where they're just "nice" and nothing more. They made sense in the ye-olde days when the higher-tier brands (Cadillac or Mercedes) were significantly more expensive, but when barely a few thousand dollars separates them from both the cheaper brands (Chevy and VW) and the more expensive ones, why bother? This does apply more to Buick than Volvo, since Volvo's really its own thing while Buick is supposed to inbetween. It is a segment that exists and has room for exploitation, but people in this segment will want to inflate themselves and buy the cheaper cars from halo-car manufacturers.

And then you have the cheap rich people who don't buy luxury cars at all, the self-righteous asswipes.
