All the e55 amg owners I know say it's average Mercedes maintance. I know a w220 owner that had 250k miles since new and no major issues either. These are probably outliers though. I'd buy it if the price is right and the previous owner was meticulous on maintenance.

The only thing that would worry me is the ABC suspension. Transmissions are generally good when serviced regularly. Engines are bomb-proof. Electronics aren't nearly as bad as the internet seems to think.

My PPI showed it will need to rear brakes including rotors in the next few thousand miles (wear parts, not terrible) and that the front suspension mounts will need to be done in the near term but not as soon as the rear brakes (we have a guy that rebuilds these for all sorts of high-end cars and have had no trouble with his work so will go that route and save 50% over factory parts). I think that's it.

Actually I bought it right before the pic was taken. Taking it on a short shakedown road trip this weekend from SF to Napa. So far I have scared 2 back seat passengers.

I don't get it either. I can only assume it's a status thing. So many people drive performance cars without having any idea what it really is and can do. Drives me nuts.
