This is a Star "Meblowóz" (Polish for "Furniturecar"). It's a unique lorry that'd been designed in the 1960's specifically to transport furniture. 7 were made in total - only one remains.
This vehicle uses a frame from a Star 25/27 L (25 for petrol engines, 27 for diesels), the body is a heavily modified trailer that'd been fitted onto the chassis. It seats six - the driver and their assistant in the cabin, and four more burly men in the space above the cockpit to help carry the furniture to the client's residence.
Only 7 "Meblowozy" were made and until a few yars ago everyone thought that none survived. Luckily, somebody deiscovered one parked in some bushes within a field. The owner was found and agreed to sell the lorry to a bunch of enthusiast who run a vehicle museum in Biaystok, Poland.
After they pulled it out of the bushes it turned out that the Star had survived remarkably well, despite being buried axles deep for many, many years.
Without wasting much time, the nice blokes who bough the lorry started a full scale restoration to bring it back to its former glory.
At the moment the truck has been converted to serve as a car transporter to help the museum with its mission of showing off cool, old rides to those who want to see them. The unique original seating layout has been preserved and the conversion can be easily reverted as well.
The "Meblowóz" gained renown by starring in an old Polish TV series "Podró za jeden usmiech" (Journey for one smile). In all likehood the vehicicle that has been saved is the exact same one that went on TV.

adapting the use is an awesome way of keeping the thing on the road. definitely better than just having it sit in the show room
