How bad of an idea would it be to bolt a turbo kit onto a 2011 Buick Regal CXL with the 2.4L Ecotec? A friend wants to know....
And if its not idea, which turbo kit would be best?

An engine swap from a CXL turbo might be simpler for wiring everything.
Then again, the CXL turbo wasn't THAT fun to drive, so it's probably not worth it.

if we are talking general hypothetical my response would probably be.
1. not worth it
2. probably nothing out there
If you are committing to a turbo you gotta know it will cost alot, and require a lot of sluething if the aftermarket isn't there already.

A better question is, why bother?

Yup. Spray it.

One hypothetical follow-up question:
What engine management exists for the 2.4L Ecotec in the Regal? Every off-the-shelf kit out there is for the non-DI LE5 from the Cobalt.
My cursory search indicates that tuning a turbo for the 2.4L LAF is not something you can do off the shelf. So after you buy the kit, buy a standalone ECU, and buy some dyno time at $100/hour...you should have just gotten a Regal GS.
