Hey team Jaolop,
I took my 2013 Fusion (1.6l turbo) to the dealership due to the constant emission of (unspent) gasoline odor. This had been getting worse for a few weeks. The dealer replaced the entire fuel injection assembly; apparently that's all one big, unified thing now. The whole deal was covered under warranty, and apparently I'm the first to have this service performed at what is a pretty high-volume Ford dealer in Phoenix. The recall notice has apparently not gone out yet either.
The gas fumes were getting pretty crazy...not sure if enough for ignition, but that was certainly a concern for me.
Gentlemen, start your service departments!

Update: about a month after the above mentioned recall/repair, I’m happy to report that my fuel economy has improved by about 4 MPG (on the global indicator for all miles driven), and likely more in actuality. I’ll be taking a 300+ mile highway trip in the next two weeks, after which I’ll report back about highway consumption.

Update: took a ~700 mile road trip over an extended weekend. Drove I-10 from Phoenix to LA and back. Cruise control on and set at 3+ speed limit throughout, which is 78 mph in AZ, and 73 mph in most of CA. The post fuel injection assembly recall replacement mileage was 29.9 mpg. That’s a full 2.5 mpg better than before the repair.
