My Sunday = better than all your Sundays J. Goodwood was definitely the place to be on Sunday. With 20,000 tickets sold, I wasn't sure what to expect with regards to access, and having never been to a Goodwood event, I was slightly pensive as I knew it was a fairly exclusive, smart event (and I'm, umm, not always the most smart person).

I cant think of an event I've attended that felt more special than the Members meeting, and I'm including the Nuburgring 24h in that. I've never seen so much effort put into actually putting on an event as Goodwood did at the weekend. The whole thing was run immaculately, even down to the absolutely mundane parking and food. The whole place was liveried up with the pastel blue, including the Banner across the start line, the Flags, and all the signage around the entire track.

The access to the paddock was incredible. With the exception of the P1 GTR, and the Harrods Mclaren everything and I mean EVERYTHING was open access. Want to go and stand next to a Mclaren F1 GTR, go ahead. Want to go and touch a geunuine group C car, have at it. Want to have a very close look at the cockpit of Niki Lauda's Ferrari, sure.

Everyone had a smile on their face, and even though it was pretty early on a Sunday morning, no-one seemed anything less than bright eyed and bushy tailed. I guess that much BHP and as Henry Hope-Frost would say, #Fever.

As for the racing, for cars that are all older than the author, no-one was taking it easy. Absolute commitment was the order of the day, from Nick Swift in the tiny 1275cc Mini, to the guys in the Earl Howe trophy, driving Grand prix Bugattis, Frazer Nash and Alfa Romeos. Every single race was really closely fought, and watching the Lola T70 of Nick Padmore smash the lap record by something like 0.7s was rather special.

And then there was the demo runs:

15 Mclaren F1 GTRs, long and short tails.

Kinja'd!!!

Group C cars, including Saubers, Jaguars, Nissans, Aston Martins,

Kinja'd!!!

High Airbox F1 Cars, Shadows, Ferraris, Mclarens, Heskeths,

Kinja'd!!!

Do side show entertainments get any better than that

Oh, and then there was the carpark.

Ferrari Daytonas, 308s, 599 GTOs, FFs, Aston Martin DB5s, DB6s, Zagatos, Jaguar E-types and Mark 2 saloons, and a simply stunning Lamborghini Muira.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

If you aren't sure about going to the Members meeting next year, but you can physically get there. Do it. You wont regret it. I don't think ive smiled so much trackside for a very long time.

#73MM. What an event.
