Happened yesterday
Me: ...so what's going to happen is that they're on leave until their contract runs out on June 30. From what I know, they probably won't fill the position while they have the guy under contract, so even if they hire now, the new person will start July 1 at the earliest. Most likely, they probably won't even start interviewing until July 1.
Someone Else: That doesn't make any sense.
Me: They're not going to pay two people to do the same job, which is why they're waiting until July 1 to start anyone, methinks.
SE: But that doesn't make any sense
Me: They already are paying the guy on leave, if they hired someone now they'd be paying...
*interrupt*
SE: That doesn't make any sense, is what I'm saying
Me: ¯\_()_/¯
SE: Why are you getting angry at me, I'm just saying it doesn't make sense to me.
Me: It is what it is, is what I'm saying.
SE: I don't want to talk to you, you're getting angry at me when all I'm saying is that it doesn't make any sense

It's the most circular, illogical, frustrating conversation I've ever had. Mainly because the person I was having with is usually logical. In this case, I just couldn't explain that something was what it was, for some reason. It's how things operate. "I know it doesn't make sense, I'm just passing along info."

I think there's more liquid inside their heads because there's more room. And the smaller brain can't unlearn much because there's not much to begin with.

He's right though, it doesn't make any sense. If they're paying the person to do a job and they're on leave then the job isn't getting done. It would therefor make sense to hire someone sooner than the contract end date so that the job does get done. They don't however want to pay another person to fill the same role, even though the first person isn't doing it.
Corporate bureaucracy: it is what it is and it doesn't make any sense.

Which is my point. I wasn't disagreeing with the other person, I was just stating my indifference to the whole process.

At some point they will realize the futility in trying to understand said process. Until then, they will continue getting annoyed at the stuff that doesn't make any sense.

that wasn't circular logic, they were just making a declarative statement based on their viewpoint. You could have either agreed with them that it didn't make sense, or just explained better why it did make sense. You did neither of those.

I didn't think it was neccessary. I was just providing a statement of what the situation appears to be. I have no opinion either way.
I do not believe it makes sense, therefore I can not explain why it makes sense.
I attempted to provide a news item. That's all.
