They don't rot that bad at all actually, for the era. Not the phase 2 (1986+) ones at least, like the one in the picture. They're certainly not immune to rot, but not nearly as bad as similar era Japanese cars or Opels.

Visible rot was never an item on BXs, unlike on the cars I mentioned. Some sub frame parts would rot though, my friend's €500 BX was junked for that reason a few years ago as the subframe rot prevented it passing inspection. In defence of the BX: my friend did park it on a parking lot literally next to the North Sea for 5 days a week for a long time, he only drove it during weekends.

The BX in the picture is a 1986+ one, so it had this more conventional dash with normal stalks and (probably) this steering wheel.

Yeah mine's surprisingly good given its 170k miles and paper-thin sheetmetal. It's not actually good (big rust holes in the front arches where the PO was driving without arch liners), but that's not it's fault.

The rest is pretty damn solid :)
