From now on, if a platform end-user agreements does not allow full account deletion, I will not post content to that platform.

Plastic razor blades are perfect for getting stickers off painted surfaces.

*nods*
They're on my shopping list but I didn't have any around today. They'll be useful when I remove the privacy film from side-rear windows. (that gawd-awful "wavy" stuff)

If you are taking tint off of windows or stickers off of glass, I highly recommend (safely) using real one edge razor blades. Hold it flat against the glass and it will take toe goo off too. Just make sure they are fresh, dull ones will leave residue behind.
Proceed at your own digression.

Nice. Thanks for that.
I'd been cautioned to use a blade holder to get the angle perfectly straight. (I gather the blade corners can actually dig into the glass if not held square)

You are quite welcome, just things I learned from working as a detailer.
Not that I experienced, just leaves residue behind (specially when hand holding the blades like we do in out shop). I wish I know how to tell you how the master detail guy I know removes tint, but I haven't seen it start to finish, but at the end he just peels it all off the window and wipes the goo away, its quite amazing.

*laughs* You got it. ;)
FWIW, this car has been around! Jim Pattison is a Vancouver area dealer. I bought this thing in Ottawa. The Carfax reports shows it's moved from BC to Quebec to Ontario since it was new.

Lil' Chizlers are even better. Or, if the decal is only a few years old (YMMV because of climate), a hot pressure washer can blast 'em off if you're close enough.

I found a link a few minutes ago suggesting using steam to soften the glue and then carefully peel: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-remo…
Maybe that?

I'm in B.C. I wouldn't have recognized it if it were an ON or QC dealer.

I Googled to see if I could track down any service records for the vehicle but the original dealer said they didn't keep records that long, sadly.

I've always been a fan of using WD40. Removing stickers is actually the only thing I keep it around for.

BTW, Jim Pattison himself is rich as hell. Like, "top-5 richest Canadians" rich. He's even pretty well liked and respected here.

Oh wow. I didn't know there was a connection with the Pattison you see on billboards. Interesting.

He does something with trash bags and some chemical, but maybe he leaves it in the sun for the chemical to dissolve the glue.

Yep, same guy. owns Overwaitea/Save-On Foods, a bunch of radio & TV stations, lots of car dealerships around Vancouver, and was instrumental in having Vancouver host Expo '86.

I had a discussion about that very subject w/ one of the guys at work. He insists WD40 is an excellent lubricant. I disagreed and made the assertion that the only thing it should be used for is sticker removal.

Believe he tapes the bottom and sides of a piece of trash bag over the sticker ( to hold fluid) then pours the pouch full of ammonia. I've read about that trick, never tried it.

heat guns work as well

I'd be concerned a heat gun would blister the paint; water isn't going above 100 Celsius.

you don't need to get the heat gun that close or even hear it to that extreme. It is just enough to loosen the adhesive to get it to let go. I have remove many decals, factory and dealer with no issue. It is not like you are trying to burn it off, it is just enough to get the glue to let go enough to cleanly peel or scrape it off.
