I must admit, I am surprisingly smitten with the stock exhaust on my Mini.

It's like a miniature F-Type!

I only have half as many cylinders, but I'm just as angry, yes I am!

Pops are almost as great as burbles. Either way extra exhaust notes are always awesome.

When actually driving and decelerating with engine braking, it tends to burble with intermittent popping. The burble is fairly consistent, whereas there's a definite sweet spot to get the most pops.

So you have pops and burbles?! Now I'm just jealous. I just get viscious rasp if my exhaust is too cold.
Though my k&n sounds like it could consume a small child walking down the sidewalk once I hit 3k rpms.

The R53 Mini was doing that long before the Abarth came onto the scene. I'm fairly sure that's where Fiat set the benchmark for their exhaust sound and just decided to forego acknowledging the O.G. in the room, lol.
Also, I still prefer the Mini's exhaust. The Abarth sounds like it's trying too hard to make its displacement seem larger than it is. The Mini is an honest-to-god high-revs-small-displacement wail whereas the Abarth is like "Raaaaagh! I'm a V8! No-no, don't pop the hood, just trust me, I'm a V8!" :-P

I can't really hear my induction noise over the supercharger, but I've been told that the DDMworks cold-air intake will change that and then some. Apparently it sounds "like King King sucking in one last deep breath right before a rap verse."

Was following a Mini with some aftermarket exhaust on the highway. The popping was so loud I at first thought he was throwing up small stones that were bouncing off my hood. Whatever you do, don't get that exhaust.

As someone who's revved many an F-Type (3 to be exact), it really does sound like an F-Type that hasn't hit puberty quite yet.

after she's warmed up, on my 2013 S Coupe the sweet spot for pops is around 2000RPM or 3000RPM..
here's my baby and a nice 1F day in MN and nice and warm engine.. so loud when it's cold :)

This is basically the setup I intend to have, but with a Megan Racing header instead of the Jannspeed unit: Megan Racing header with decat, Milltek non-resonated 'cat'-back exhaust system:

I think they both sound good, but FIAT definitely didn't benchmark the Abarth exhaust off of a Mini. If anything, they benchmarked it off past Abarths. Abarths have been known for their bonkers exhaust notes for the last fifty years or so. I think they also took some cues from the SRT guys as well for the US version. Carlo Abarth got his start making exhausts, and every Abarth has sounded pretty nutty.

Yeah, I have about the same sweet spot- between 2k and 3k, especially with a full-on-full-off throttle blip. It also will pop on-throttle around 6k.
