Goodbye, 1998 Passat GLX, you've served me well for the last 14 of your 17 years since rolling off the line at Emden, but now it's time to give you to a rural charity to use in their mission work, auto skills training classes, and eventually sell to a person in poverty.

The guy who picked it up said this could well be the best condition vehicle they've ever gotten. Original manuals, full maintenance records. It just wasn't worth the hassle of a private sale and now I know it's going to a good home!

This is the car that taught me DIY and basically made me an auto enthusiast in the first place. It's mostly back to stock form now, save for the Eibach suspension.

That's a sharp looking Passat. Someone is getting a nice looking car. Big ups for the donation.

Ah, good call. Now others can wonder why MK4 VW sedans smell like crayons.

At least you got to sell yours. If you look at my page you can see what I mean Basically, I totaled my 99 1.8t Wagon. I bought it with 120k miles at $2400 and I just got my check from insurance and I got $6177. Not bad, just lost my baby.

Yeah, I just heard it will be lent to a lady from the battered women's shelter there. What a great use for my old car — to help a recovering abuse victim have some freedom and fun, get to work, run errands, and lose the shame of walking everywhere or bumming rides.
