So because I was sick for 2 weeks I am really behind in my classes. Turns out the vector I did of my truck falls under the criteria of the final for my Digital Illustration class, so all I had to do was mess with the highlights and shadows a bit. Here it is now:
And here’s what it looked like before I tried to get school credit for it:
I cleaned it up quite a bit. They’ve been working on the final for the past two weeks so I missed nothing because I did my truck for fun. So I’m golden in that class, now all I have to worry about is my concept drawing class (which is the one I really care about).

what's the process like that you use to create these? Are you tracing features on an existing image then filling the shapes and dropping the original away?

I traced the shapes but freehanded the lighting and shadows. Thats what its like on everything, I betcha even Arch Duke does that on his stuff. There really isnt a way to freehand stuff well. I did that once, this is how it turned out:
