Sauber and the Dutch driver have come to an agreement that sees van der Garde drop his battle to enforce his contract and drive for the team. While the details are not disclosed, the team "paid significant compensation to avoid honouring the contract they had with me [VDG].
While this ends the legal dispute and should ensure there will be no further concern over equipment seizures due to court rulings, it does bring back concerns over Sauber's finances. As has been well publicized, the team is operating on a relative shoestring budget compared to the bigger teams and having to pay compensation likely in the millions of dollars [speculative] will not help their cause. Hopefully their double points finish in Melbourne last weekend is indicative of a good season to come and will help them attract more sponsors to better secure the team's financial future.

Van Der Garde should be driving for Sauber but he really did get out pretty good. Even thou he won't be driving he is going to get like 15M for compensation and he got the 8m back from their previous agreement. He was to old to be just coming into F1 so now he can focus on another series whether it be DTM WEC or whatever he wants, or he can sit on the side and spend the 15m he is getting from Sauber. He may also have trouble finding another team to work with because this whole thing with Sauber might have made his reputation as someone who is hard to work with.
