At least you haven't gone through SIX oxygen sensors that required the removal of the engine each time. Oh what a feeling, Toyota!

Interior components are crazy expensive to begin with. Installation of them is often tricky, sometimes requiring special tools. Many fasteners are one-use deals, they break when a part is removed and need to be replaced (read, more labor). Plus your mechanic actually has to be clean when he works inside your car. Ha.
Take for example an item that is as simple as it gets, floor mats; the most overpriced accessory you can buy for your car. Those carpeted wonders you paid $300 for, cost the supplier $35 to manufacturer. We should all go to our windows, stick our heads out and yell I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore.

But it was just one tiny piece of plastic. the size of a press stud.

I have had to fix my air suspension though, two times.

Did the dealer give you an estimate beforehand or are they the type that like surprising their customers?

They gave me an estimate, $1540 total (30k miles service + the seats+ minor bumper scuff)
