So I was doing a random car search today and this gem popped up for $1900. I thought 900 was reserved for coupes and sedans were 9000 but I know nothing haha.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

It looks to be in great condition and I personally have a fetish for the coupes but this sedan looks nice with the lights and the roof rack. The miles are very high but looks to be in good condition. I'd mainly be driving it in the summer and it would be a weekend only car but what am I looking at for maintenance? also MPG figures?

Check out my post right below this one. I spotted a 16v Manual 900S coupe at school yesterday

beautiful, rock solid except for rust. And the sedan isnt as useful as the 3/5 door hatches, but still a great car. NP, and nice wheels to boot

Really? I'm looking for basically a weekend road trip car to take to a B&B or for a day cycling trip things like that.

I noticed this one claims to have been oil treated which should help the rust case. Are there gremlins to be looking for? I'm very unfamiliar with Saabs, personally I've been more of a Volvo guy and know those but nothing about these. Just the price sticks out.

the worst thing to happen to these is the front suspension mounts rust out, so check it well. I have seen gorgeous ones for sale for peanuts because of this. It can be fixed but obviously better to have one without the problem in the first place. Also doing a starter is ridiculous on them, or a blower motor/heater core, so make sure all is well. Great rigs though

Thanks for all the tips. I'll get in touch and also contact a saab specialist locally for an inspection. Does the price seem a tad high? (I feel it's maybe 4-500 too high).

Also, how hard is it to learn stick on one of these. Horrible enthusiast confession, I don't know how to drive stick. Even during my racing period, it was already shifting to flappy paddles, and well, I drove stick the other day, it was in an Audi R8 with a gated shifter and ridiculous give.

no, but it isnt the most robust set of gears in the world. Refresher course, sure. Just learned how to drive a car and learn to drive a stick - it will take it but I wouldn't beat on it till you can row them well. I am not saying they are bad, esp in a non turbo, just be careful. The gear selection is pretty wide, and you cant hit reverse without pulling up on a safety catch.

Price all depends on how the thing checks out. It is 100% NP if it checks out with no major mechanical or rust.

Also have the exhaust collector after the cat checked out. Most of them are welded up due to leaking there. Not a big deal if the pipes are in good shape and it is welded, just be aware of it

I gave the guy a call, he says it's in good condition but to remember it's a 25 year old car. The car's winter platted so it can't be driven, only forwards/back inside the dealership (family friends apparently work at a sweedish garage here).

At 2 grand he said he wouldn't inspect it, they'll point a ton of things out and you'll worry. It was owned by the former Saab North America Club president's wife previously and he has a whole extra interior and tons of trim bits.

Really? Is it that much of a catch? I can't drive it until I buy it apparently since it doesn't have plates

well i have a huge fettish for 900s , and one with no rust and less than 150k is a pretty good catch. Lower miles would be nice but its not everything.

bear in mind these are not kind or reliable, and parts can bet tricky and expensive. I just really love this cars.
