See, having your rich !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is one thing, but it's another thing if they do this shit.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
And this shit.
And this shit.
And rinse and repeat doing all those shit, not just to you, but to your other neighbors. And worse, they keep doing because they know none of the other claimants can do anything more than complain (or in Chinese Communist Party-speak: whine like a little bitchy c___) to the UN. But at the same time, I still think they can only go as far as this because they might start an ugly war.To think this is just the Coast Guard doing this.
Which is why I really want to know the Coast Guard's top brass. And how they look like. I'm particular about who's in charge of the South China Sea.
BTW, thanks, Tyler, for getting this issue up on your sub-blog. Now if you can get more juice about the other issue which these news clips are about.

If Cassie wins the tournament, she will be an orphan.
If her parents win, they will have murdered their own child.
...Mua-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha, excellent.

Smells like Imperial Japan circa 1935 to me.

Never would I have expected to see AbsCbn videos on Oppo, videos I understand. After watching them, I now am left with chills - a result of seeing Tagalog on Oppo; and, the fact that I'm better informed - a better undertanding as to what's going on.

Or circa 1942, if China tries.

Let's hope things don't escalate that far, especially because China has the resources Japan didn't.
And, frankly, it's not worth fighting a war over fossil fuels. A more productive solution, I would think, would be increased investment to alternative energies. And if they want to strangulate shipping with tariffs over new-found control of the routes, the rest of the world can remind China that it buys most of their shit and can similarly tax it into oblivion.
So, yeah, war: don't need it.

For us, though, it isn't as much the natural gas as it is the fact that Filipino citizens live a life and Filipino soldiers are stationed in those islands. And then China would kick them out of there with I absolutely do not want to tell but I know they'll use force just to displace them. Oh, and sanctions, too, because the CCP will cry trespassing and they always get what they want when they're up against a lower-tier country. And then they'd rationalize and convince the UN that they're doing nothing wrong, the Philippines started it first and that we illegally called for American help and other bullshit.
But of course, they're scared to do that. They can't, because no one in China except those in the hallowed halls want war. Besides, they don't want to destroy the good stuff they're doing now.
P.S. Chinese mapmakers are rubbish.

Them building these islands is an attempt to get what they want without actually landing troops on shores owned by somebody else. If this were 1940, they'd already be invading because building an island is not feasible and they still want the area. Now, they will just build the islands, create a presence, and let passage of time and popular ignorance of the situation legitimize their claim to the region.
These islands will also serve as surrogates for their lack of Nimitz -class capable aircraft carriers, projecting power near to home.

But of course, before they hop onto the next island the have to be sure that no one's living in that island... and no one's watching them build on other islands. And there are so many people watching them build. One call and the news team (remember, the station from where the news clips come from broadcast in many other countries) and the military would show up there, and even just an interview is enough evidence. And of course, China Coast Vanguards come in and spray them with water guns and ram.
