please bump if you want Top Gear UK on the AIR, now.
A Grizzled Middle Aged man punches 32 year old man. Great end of story.
Now clarkson is kind of an Oger, but he's more like shrek and everyone loves him, even though he's occasionally rude, violent and smelly.
I'm not saying he's above reprisal or following rules, but for the BBC to get on its high horse now is slightly ridiculous. First, in the UK I just assumed everyone who worked together went down to the pub at the end of the week, had a few pints, punched each other and continued drinking.
But seriously this is a program where the BBC had no problem putting its cast, producers and crew in very real danger where mortal fear was legitimate, MANY TIMES.
Faulklands, Alabama, death road, Sahara, North Pole, Pakistan, Vietnam, Botswana, chile, etc.
The BBC had no problem with those attacks or dangerous situations, yet 1 punch is enough to hit the brakes...?
How about Jeremy just gives a sincere apology on air or in writing in his column and we move on and you guys go back to producing excellent television with automotive context and intelligence?
If you want Top Gear UK back please bump / like / tweet & Boycott BBC.

When official statements are made and we actually know what happened then we can make a judgement. But at the end of the day they have every right to fire him for this, I can't imagine he'd be out of work long.

they also had every right sue BBC for not providing adequate safety and protection when they got chased out of Alabama or in Thr faulklands...
The PC police need to pump the breaks, who knows what the other person said or did. Clarkson is just the biggest name and its 1 punch between 2 grown men and Clarkson has the muscle tone of an over Cooked spaghetti noodle.

They'll have been insured and had security, stacks of risk assessments etc.
The punch isn't the issue, it's if he creates hostile working conditions. Tymon might even give a statement that says everything is fine and he'll be reinstated. We have no idea what is going to happen.
Plus if it turns out Clarkson did something worse that what is reported, his blind supporters are going to look mighty silly.

Tymon said he didn't think it was an issue but he has no control over it as Clarkson was the one who reported it to management who then took it up with the higher ups. We really need more info but I don't think we'll get any. I reckon Clarkson will let his contract expire and that will be the end of it.

Ah fair enough.
At the end of the day we all know Clarkson is a bit of a knob, but a sometimes entertaining knob (I used to love top gear but don't really like it any more). So we know he has the potential to have done something shitty and someone being entertaining doesn't exclude them from judgement.

You need to chill. Tymon already came out in support saying its no big deal and supported Clarkson.
This is about $$$ Clarkson is probably the highest paid employee at the BBC and has stake in the Top Gear brand.
The point is "he without err cast the first stone."
We all err, I'm just saying a simple sincere apology Is enough. This talk of canceling 25 year institution over what is most likely an off hours non work related, bar scuffle, is ridiculous

I watch a few other shows on BBC-A, but at this point it's a default for me because I'm letting them all pile up while I do the Doug Loves Movies 365 movies in 365 days challenge . And if they've got this piece of TV done, then just run it - the ratings will be even higher than usual. And it will get out at some point.
I know Clarkson has done some awful things, but I want to forgive him. On the other hand, I have condemned others for essentially the same behavior. Sorry, behaviour. So exuse me for a moment while I go look at the hypocrite in the mirror.

So true and I wish more people would understand that but there are so many blind fanbois who have no concept of how the BBC works let alone basic understanding of rules. It is a shame though as this series had been the best in years.

Just saying, the Brits have to pay a subscription fee to the BBC. That's how the BBC gets monies.

When was I not chill?
Due to the way the BBC is funded it isn't as severe as a normal network losing a big money show.
Plus it's been said the higher ups aren't a fan of Clarkson, so they may just have gotten the excuse they always wanted.

How the BBC works? Cause you know.
All big institutions operate the same way.
No one is saying this is not wrong, but given the current known facts. Talk of canceling is an Insane Overreaction. Life isn't full if extremes it's about mediation, civility, understanding, and reconciling.
This is a non issue and 10 years ago no one even knows about it.
Dr Know and orphan black aren't exactly crushing it. BBC would financially get crushed.

You need to chill out bruv, I'm not even religious.
Firstly financially speaking over 75% of the BBC's income comes from the licence fee. Top Gear contributes a massive 4% overall. So guess what they can live without it.
Secondly they are not cancelling the show. They have gone on record as saying the show can continue without Clarkson. The BBC made it clear he was on his last chance and it is clear that Clarkson knew this given the fact that he reported himself to management.

No. It's one thing when danger is outside the crew. It's another if it's inside. If Clarkson attacked another person, then he should face repercussions. Just because he's popular shouldn't make him immune to criticism and reprimand.

75% comes from licensing...what do you think they're licensing?
I'm aware of at least 6 other top gear programs globally and 3x more people watch top gear uk on first airing globally than the NFL Super Bowl. Do you have any idea what that's worth?
Wasn't implying g you're religious, clearly most of this is over your head. You continually insinuate your morals are above reproach (which I highly doubt) and that other cant comprehend the situation.
I explicitly stated he is NOT exempt from the rules, but checks and balances and measured approach is usually a better take, then all or nothing.
As previously stated the recipient of the punch has already supported Clarkson publicly. Clarkson is the Howard stern of automotive journalism and pushing boundaries and commentary is his Schtick. BBC was in the toilet and top gear brought them back from the dead. You can argue, but if the man receiving the punch is ok, you should be to.

He means that 75% comes from TV licensing, not that it comes from licensing the shows abroad
In the UK if you have a TV you have to pay a TV licence fee. This is what pays for the BBC, and also enables it to show no advertising. You can boycott the BBC all you like but you're still gonna have to pay the licence fee if you're in the UK

Your ignorance is beyond belief. You clearly don't know what the licence fee is and have demonstrated zero understanding of how the BBC operates but I feel it is my duty as a payer of the licence fee to educate you.
In the UK, we have this thing called the licence fee. Every household in the UK with a TV HAS to pay it but it doesn't stop there if you have any device that can receive TV signals you HAVE to pay. It sucks balls and it makes many British people angry. One of the reasons why it makes people angry is the allocation of where the money goes. Currently the BBC receives the lion's share resulting in the licence fee contributing 3/4s of the BBC income but don't take my word for it here are some figures from the BBC themselves. You see the part "Commercial income" that includes Top Gear. Top Gear alongside the other big hit shows like Doctor Who contribute £312m in 2014.( http://www.theguardian.com/media/2013/jul… ) A drop in the ocean that is the 3.7Bn from the licence fee which is I shall say again is funded by the British public like myself. Top Gear is very successful but the BBC can easily do without the income from the program.
So seriously get off that fucking point about the BBC's finances, you don't know shit.

There's only 63 million people in the UK.
That statement is in millions...so that 3 billion?
As I said top gear is the most watched global program in the world. Your monthly cable bill makes up <1% of the revenue from licensing. It's everyone else's local cable company's paying BBC to broadcast.

I don't think the issue is that it was one punch. It was one punch after he'd already been told he was on his final warning. It's like shoplifting while out on parole. Not that massive of a violation on it's own, but when it comes after you've been told you're on your last chance you're gonna get the book thrown at you.
