Bad luck: having the throwout bearing go,
Good luck: at pedestrian speeds, roll into
Gooder luck: a service garage
Bad luck: with a 2 week waiting period.
Good luck: finding a ride, offering to pay gas. Gooder luck: they arrive in a Prius.
I had the strange notion this morning, before driving, that approximated to "A rhino in a blender". The sound of a distented clutch system bouncing around after 80,000 miles is kind of like that.
I wonder how bad it is. The tow is morrow.

I had a throwout bearing go out (shatter into a million cute little pieces) when I was about 400 miles away from home for Thanksgiving. Ended up driving back home, dry shifting the whole way

Heh, yeah, I've toasted one before but got home. This one is just rotating in the casing, who knows what lurks under there. 80K on the parts. That's almost a hundreth of a penny per mile, outrageous.
