It's been awhile since I made a GLI-Related post, so here goes. This is general GLI stuffs, and a bit more than that as well!

So, the GLI. It's officially done over 1000 miles on the chipped engine, and it's running like a champ. Besides that, I've decided that a TCS switch is needed by the end of this month, and will install one ASAP.

Besides that, not much else to report on the car besides a few neat things I just found out about! The first one being the versatility of it's trip computer!

Kinja'd!!!

(Pictured: Much Metric. Very Canada. Wow.)

I didn't know you could reset the computer to read kilometrage in KM's! also, the L/100km is very useful in figuring out how efficient my car is by Serbian standards!

The other big news is this: After driving my GLI 3 days ago, my stepdad decided to surprise me....
By tuning his GTI!!! :D

Kinja'd!!!

(Pictured: the VERY quick GTI my stepdad posses)

yep, that little GTI is the 2nd Stage1 car in the family, and unlike my GLI, when you turn the TCS off, it rips down the road!!! driving it was such a thrill, since it has all the perks of the GLI, and more!

So yeah, that's the recap on my car, and other stuff. hope y'all had fun reading!

Is the TCS switch a simple plug and play install after removing a button blank? I expect I'd have to do some VCDS programming. I need one in my car because going through the touchscreen to disable the system is annoying, even if I rarely use it or need to.

Good lookin' VW's. I always liked the GLI and nearly got bought one instead.

I've got a 2013 MK6 GTI that is APR stage 1, w/ a full SPM Street Turbo-back exhaust, and APR intake. All was lovely and was ready to go stage 2, until my stock clutch started slipping in 6th :(

I knew it was a possibility, but life being life, I am not exactly prepared to fork over $1500+ for a clutch job right now :/

Yeah, well I've actually been to Watkins Glen so I think I deserve them :). Also thanks for helping me clear my mind a bit earlier. Much appreciated.

yeah, it's pretty simple on Mk6's, not sure for mk7's though...

The switch+wiring is $100-$150 online, plus another $150 to get a pro to install it. I think it's worth it for me though

I've yet to have clutch slip, but I'm afraid I might soon. That's why I'm holding off on the intake and downpipe, lest I overload the stock clutch. If I'm finanicially lucky enough, I might get a clutch this summer, and that would open up many tuning options for me

If anything would overload the clutch, it'd be the tune. Mine didn't happen right away. Some fail, some don't, but I'd be prepared for the worst just so you don't end up like me having to baby it and keep it out of boost. VW underengineered this clutch pretty badly. I wish I went DSG. Nonetheless, don't let any of that negativity get in the way of you having fun with your car!

I'm right there with you on the TCS off switch. The crappy Optimos my R came with means XDS is always cutting in when I start playing with the car. I'm starting to do better at work, and I see Stage 1, new wheels and tires, and the TCS off kit in my future...

I'm on grippy Michelin pilot A/S 3's, and it's still a little Nazi to me...

considering that I'm 16, and learning, and the fact that I've burned up my clutch, I don't think that i'll last long...

Wow! You have a cool car for a 16 year old. A lessons I've learned in my time driving stick: Don't dump the clutch and do a burnout no matter how many chicks are watching.

too late. guess what I did in front of a group of girls today after school.... :(

it's holding up ok so far, but I'm only about 1000 miles in to the tune!

EDIT: Also, thank you! I know, and I totally don't deserve it :P

Doesn't look like USP has a kit for it like they do for the Mk6 yet. I guess I'll be waiting until that happens.
