You actually missed the "fracas", not the kerfuffle. Clarkson punched a producer apparently. Instead of punishing Jeremy, they're punishing the fans :( Why not just fine the guy? I DON'T WANT MORE KITCHEN NIGHTMARES OR STAR TREK BBC AMERICA! GIVE ME TOP GEAR.

Oprah could totally get away with punching her producers. I'm sure Jeremy is a dick, and he may be a racist old man.. but that's just how some people are. Why are they trying to change him? Dropping n-bombs on TV is NOT cool and I think he did what he needed to do to clear that up.. Now they want him to be a model citizen or they're going to punish his fans? The makes zero sense. Let him be him. He's a wildcard and they'll probably continue to take out more insurance than they need for everything they do because of him, but that's his allure.. He's unapologetically genuine.

He made $22 million last year. I don't know what portion of that is endorsements or unrelated income, but I think it's safe to say he anchored something that brought in hundreds of millions of dollars (quid/pounds?) for the BBC last year. Top Gear is one of the most widely watched shows in the world.

I am quite done with Star Trek TNG - it's unwatchable now. Another punch? Like when he punched Piers Morgan .... He has to learn a bit more self control, but pulling the show is not the right move.
