$45,000 for a 1989 944? NO WAY. However, it only has 8,000 miles on it, and it looks brand new. But there has to be an extra zero on there. It's definitely a very nice looking example though.
By the way, it's not a Turbo, it's a torbo . Those are EXTRA rare, and may be worth the overinflated price.

It says the garage was kept in mint condition. Also it's a torbo.

It might of been the one-off version made from the tears of orphans. Just saying.

Crack to the pipe. $45k and they wont even put a fresh battery in and make sure it runs? Nope, about two too many zeros in that price.

He's on to something. I just checked ebay and there's an 86 944 turbo with 22 thousand miles going for 42k and one with 46 thousand miles going for 30k. Mispelling aside if it's as clean as he says it is he will probably get that money

Asking price, or actual bids at those amounts? If they're really selling for that much, color me VERY surprised. I mean, if all it needs is a battery (and probably fresh fluid changes of course), then it may not be so out there. I've seen 944s for dirt cheap, and I really didn't think that there was really that kind of market for them. But then again, I don't follow them too closely anyways.

right 994s can be had for dirt cheap but for a clean low mileage turbo they are appreciating in value. I mean the two examples I told were at dealers but still. I could see maybe the mid 30s being a sold win for both parties for the red one. 4500 dollars gets you a 944 without a turbo with over 100k miles on it now a days

If you follow the market for 944s, they are definitely going up. The turbos seem to be at the top of the heap along with the S2s and the 968s. However, that is air cooled 911 money and if I had my druthers, I would go 911. If nothing else, 911s don't need nearly as much care and feeding.
That said, I am contemplating picking up a 944 project in the near future. I am probably going to look for an '83 as they are simpler (no power steering).

Not that this is necessarily worth the asking price, but the '89 944 Turbo is pretty rare. It's the same as the '88 944 Turbo S, except for '89 all 944 Turbos were S-spec. Porsche dropped the S from the name rather than sell the Turbo S and no regular Turbo. Turbo S goodies included:
247 hp instead of 217 hp, from a larger turbo and more boost
M030 Club Sport Package - larger sway bars, stiffer springs, uprated bushings, height-adjustable Koni shocks, bigger front brakes from the 928 S4
Club Sport forged wheels (16x7 F, 16x9 R)
Stronger clutch
Transmission cooler
LSD
Sure you can slap those things together onto some other 944 Turbo, but overall, it's a nice package.

Huh. Didn't know that. Guess this is a bit of a unicorn then. I mean, it certainly looks very clean. I'm not sure how reputable NADA is, but high retail is around $16,500 on their site for an '89 944 Turbo with no additional options or features, which is still more than I expected, but a far cry from what the seller is asking.
If they're really appreciating that much, and the seller knows what he has, then I hope he gets close to his asking price. It certainly wouldn't be from me, though. If I had that kind of money, I'd be spending it on an SRT392 Challenger instead.

I don't think it's quite worth this asking price, especially when despite the low mileage, the seller can't spell "turbo" and is a bit vague on when the car was last started up.
But I do think the '89 Turbo and '88 Turbo S will possibly appreciate in value, even though overall there are plenty of cheap 944s out there. If you look at the 928, it's kind of the same. There are plenty of cheap 928s out there, but they're overwhelmingly older and/or automatic transmissions. Then you'll see lower-mileage GTs (which are all manual transmission) going for $30k+ and some GTSes will go up into the 40s and 50s, even with automatics.
