Every one always talks about that new car smell, but why not the old car smell? Not the one where it smells like stale farts because no one's ever cleaned it. I'm taking about that worn and aged plastic and leather smell. It's a very distinct smell and i love it. I only notice it on cars usually older than 20years old. How about you oppo? Know what I'm taking about even?

There's that smell, and then there's the Very Old Car Smell which features a distinct tinge of carburetion and oil strong enough to creep into the car's interior. Less refined, certainly, but I find myself encountering it more often than Old Car Smell. Although - the very first car I ever drove was a prime example of OCS - a 60s Fury with the original mostly-vinyl interior.

The old car smell I remember was of a friend's brother's 66 Mustang. It smelled of unburned gasoline and exhaust...kind of like a lawnmower draped in vinyl.

My Gran Torino will make that smell after a long drive when it's cooling off in the garage.

One of the best things I have ever smelled was the interior of a 1950s Rolls Royce.
The mix of old wool and leather and wood, with just a touch of oil/gas was absolutely intoxicating.
