"505Turbeaux" (505turbeaux)

I used to enjoy this movie quite a bit. It came out the year I graduated high school and I saw it last maybe 5 years ago. I was looking for a movie last night and decided to revisit it, and thought it was horribly dated and not entertaining. Agree/disagree?
I was in it for some crazy Cage, but even that didn't save it

I still like it on merit of its ridiculousness. It's not what I'd call a good movie though.

I agree with you, I thought it was awesome when it came out but now I can't watch it. It's dated for sure, but I don't think that's the biggest issue.. I think the issue is that we've become adjusted to great movies, and there's been A LOT of great movies the last ten years or so.

I have heard of this movie, but being Canadian I always assumed faceoff was a movie about hockey. I never knew it was about the FBI.

AH. The movie that is titled to mislead canadians to think that it is about hockey.

I can totally see why you thought that, BUT.. If you're a Canadian, why the heck did you NOT watch a movie you thought was about Hockey? :)

I just looked up Cage/Travolta movies from the year I graduated from HS.
Cage:
Rasing Arizona
Moonstruck
Travolta:
Basements (made for TV movie)
1987 win goes to - Cage

it is so damned bad. I have never gone into it thinking it would be good. Having said that, I have seen it more than a few times. It's pretty funny. That thing cage does with his family member's faces (molests them with his hand) is just weird considering the plot of the movie.

excellent. Raising Arizona is a favorite, Moonstruck was fine too. Probably my favorite movie of his was this, from 1990 though

I had never heard of this "Basements" before. Hell, there isn't even much on IMDB about it.
Edit. Oh My.

It was a dark time for Travolta. Look Who's Talking was out shortly thereafter for Christs sake

I can completely see why you would feel Face/Off dated. Even back then i liked Broken Arrow more.
BTW, i too graduated in 1997.

ummmmmm i know i'm in the minority with this, but i liked Pierce Brosnan in the Bond role. Though it has to be said, I like Craig even more, he has grown into the role much better.

My wife and I saw this in the theaters back when it came out. She is/was a Travolta/Cage fan. I just remember it being stupid and overdone. The boat chase at the end was so ridiculous that I was laughing. I got it for her on DVD but I don't think we've ever watched it. I kind-of liked Travolta in Pulp Fiction , but I can't watch him in anything else. I will watch reruns of Welcome Back Kotter , though.

Uggh I hate this movie. I saw it when it came out with my dad (I was 8) and legitimately this is the only movie to ever give me nightmares.
The fucking concept of someone stealing my face was more than my little brain could handle.

I didn't like it before it was cool not to like it so there.
Seriously though, it and 'Wag the Dog' were the two movies I remember just pissing me off in 97. My dad, however, thought it was the best thing ever. It was one of the few movies he actually purchased on VHS rather than waiting for it to come on TV then asking (forcing) me to use my dual SVHS setup to record and edit out the commercials.

I've never seen this. My only memory of it is of having to fast forward through the trailer for it that was on my Star Trek: First Contact VHS. I watched that a shit ton, however.

I've always thought it was hilarious. John Travolta's acting especially is so over the top, he's practically a cartoon.

FaceOff hasn't withstood the test of time. But that happens. I'd rather watch Broken Arrow though.
