I just found out that Scion XB wheels will work on the 2002. AND, they don't look stupid, and I can put my BMW center caps on them, and they are 15x6 witch is a hell of an upgrade from 13x4.5. So, I'll actually be able to run a decent tire (and bigger brakes) Now, my question is, what's the best way to find these for a decent price. Checked online and the cheapest is about $60 for a used rim. Don't like that price. Should I post on CL. Can I go to a junkyard and start hunting and rip off wheels. I'm sure a bunch of 'cool kidz' immediately took these off and put on some fly rims. What do you guys think?

I would paint them silver BTW. Here's what they look like with caps.

I thought you meant alloys at first and was questioning your sanity. Just keep an eye on Craigslist!

Don't want them. I think they look better on square-light cars. Don't care for the look. And, already have a set of e21 Turbines that are practically useless since they're 13s.

Ummm :( I'm in MD

I know you might not be up for it, but could I throw money at you via the internet to cover shipping and beers, or whatever you would like?

I love the look of these wheels, but on other cars. Unless I had turbo flairs, the offset the these wheels wouldn't look all that great.

They still have tires on them - Yokohama Avid Tourings that are at the wear bars.

To ship them, I'd have to get them dismounted (~$40), then ship them (rough quote of ~$86 via Greyhound Shipping).

Otherwise you're looking at an awesome adventure of an 1800 mile round-trip to meet a couple Oppos.

I mean, that's still a great deal for me. I know different strokes and all, but I'd just deflate the tires and go at them with a knife. But, still interested.

Well, as much as I am a sucker for period correctness and originality, you just can't find 13" tires anymore. And, with the suspension upgrades that I've done (not pictured, but H&R lowering springs, Billy HDs in all 4 corners, and a thicker front sway bar) the tires are now a performance limiting factor. Plus, only being 4.5" wide, I only have a 175 on there which is really like a damn balloon. So, for safety and performance, and many other reasons, it's a good cheap option. Plus, I'll eventually install bigger brakes, and now I know they will fit. These steel wheels won't look too out of place though, because original Alpina 2002s had similar looking wheels.

I will get back to you, just in the midst of getting everything done before I go home for spring break. Then I'll gather a few bucks and we'll make this happen.

Chuck, love the 2002!

I've been thinking about adding one to my garage. What year?

1971 2002. Bought it almost 3 years ago when I was 17. First car. Didn't even know how to do an oil change at the time. And, I have to say the car has been great to me. I've learned a lot, but it's not been through the hard way. Don't regret it at all. Easy to modify and have fun with (and relatively cheap on the spectrum). I would highly recommend it, and I try not to come off as biased when I say that. Honestly, it makes you hate other cars. You have around 100hp and it weighs around 2200-2300lbs. It's such a connection between you, the car, and the road, that everything else feels like an appliance. I'm added a few go fast parts and maybe added 10-15 hp above stock. I'd like to get a new cam and header and I'm told that will put me around 150. I can't imagine what that would be like. It's already a go kart. Make me look at the Hellcat and just think that you're mental to think you need 700+hp. And you will never dread driving anywhere if it's nice out. Hell, I drove her up till December 23rd this year, and it was about 28degrees out. Totally worth it.

I didn’t forget. I would buy them now, but there’s like 10 things I need to do to the car before I can even think about new wheels and tires. Part of being a broke college student with an expensive hobby. Is there any chance you could send me a picture of the wheels?
