A Petrolicious write up on being in a relationship with a car nut. Really good read, just sent it to my ex girlfriend and she had a good laugh.

I found it interesting to see the other side of the story. I used to always talk my families ears off about cars when I first started driving and they always supported it, guess that's not always the case.

That's how my wife was, but my enthusiasm (at least a little) has bled over to her through the years.
I remember a conversation early on that went something like:
Her: "You like cars right? I saw a Ferrari yesterday.
Me: "Cool, which one?"
Her: "Um...it was red."
Me: "But was it a 308, or a new one or what?!!!"
Her: "Um, it was a Ferrari"
To a conversation just yesterday:
Her: "I saw an i3 on the way home today"
Me: "Oh yeah, what'd you think?"
Her: "I know it's the future and is made out of sustainable materials and has a range extender option or whatever...but Jesus that thing is atrocious"
Me: "Yup"

haha, she offered to let me drive her track prepped 997.2 Carrera S at Summit Point (about an hour and a half away) for my birthday last year, still regret not taking her up on it.

My ex liked cars too, but being a single car nut isn't bad, I am 100% in charge of all car decisions, and all the space for cars is mine!

That's basically what I did with my family when I first started driving and my enthusiasm really developed. Enjoy it!

I know, terrible decision. I was worried about driving the expensive 911 on toyo R888's in December. I did go out with her and hoon in the snow once, still doesn't make me feel better about passing up summit point :(

While you're at it, make them watch Kei to the City, and at least one episode of Roadkill. Then they'll understand what it's all about.

is that 1997 C4s comment accurate?
something does smell a bit fishy in this posting.
i think the author just opened in a new play on broadway playing the queen.

I don't believe it is, I'm not the biggest Porschephile but wasn't '96 the last 993 C4s?

That is like my boyfriend. He puts up with my car gushing and shows and get bored, but he likes being around what I love and tries to help in the garage. Its great.

Early on in our relationship, to get my SO to go to the races and car shows, I made her a deal: I'd spend an equal amount on her as I spend on mods for the cars (maintenance and repairs not included). She saw the receipts for my first winter of Mod Hell and was sold (her jewelry box had a really good year). Eventually, we got to the point where we learned to pack light for our weekend trips and on the return leg she would shop (antiques/resale shops) along the route till the trunk was full... and then we'd press home. Last fall she scared me, "I need to know as much about this car as you do because I'm tired of strangers asking me questions I can't answer." This wasn't about be annoyed, rather she enjoys talking to folks at the shows and races, she just wanted to be able to talk cars, too. I think she's hooked. (The other wives in our car club made a huge difference, too.)

That is awesome - my wife cannot stop smiling at me. I apologized to her and sent her the link. "So explain what drop throttle oversteer is again?"
