So I looked up Blancpain, because I didn't know who they were but saw them sponsoring all the Gallardo race cars. Found this Le Brassus Tourbillion. I don't know what to think. I'm pretty sure the pricing is a bit excessive.

"Gallardo race cars." Since when has Lambo had a factory team in anything?

Nice of them to include free shipping.

Not a factory team. They just make the cars and sell them to teams.

That 1.5 million discount is pretty sweet too.

Definitely excessive, although it makes sense in a messed up way. This is what we in economics would refer to as a Veblen good, which behaves in a way that is completely contradictory to a normal good (correction: only at some points along the demand curve). That is to say, the higher the price is, the higher demand for the item is. Obviously there's a point where you have diminishing and then negative marginal returns, but I'm willing to bet they'll sell a few more of them overall at $3,850,000 than at $3,000,000.

I'd also be willing to bet that the $5,000,000 MSRP is a stupidly high figure so that it can be marked down like this and entice people to buy it because of the "deal". There's no reason that multimillionaires/billionaires can't be just as stupid as the rest of us. Although, to be candid, if you're buying a $3.8 million watch fuck you.

Looks gaudy as hell.

Compare that to a much, much cheaper and classier Speedmaster.

Blancpain are owned by the swatch group . In the 'Prestige and Luxury' Range' along with Omega and a few others.

Roundabout six decades ago Blancpain produced what is arguably the first modern-style dive watch, the Blancpain Fifty-Fathoms. Predecessor to the Rolex Submariner, Omega Seamaster et al. In the world of watches, Blancpain is famous. Would I ever drop 4 million on that monstrosity? Not in this lifetime.
