YES! I owned a 1981 sedan with the 1500 CVCC back in college. The previous owner thought it had a rod knock (and so did pretty much everyone who ever heard it run). Turned out to be the water pump knocking. Changed that pump and rocked the hell out of it! I loved the way this thing drove. It was light, the (unassisted) steering felt awesome, the shifter was super slick and felt great, and the car actually rode pretty well.

ProTip: make sure the carb is perfect. These used a bizzarro 3 barrel Honda carb that's unobtanium now. I've heard that some people get a Webber to work on them, but I'm not so sure... Also, the front suspension is super weird. The front/aft motion of the lower control arms is completely controlled by the sway bar, so worn out sway bar bushings will make the car do funny things (like change lanes under throttle or braking). Oh, and it's common for 5th gear to be gone too. I guess 5th uses it's own shift fork and it's common for that fork to be borked. Mine worked perfectly in 1 through 4, it notched into 5th, but nobody was home. It was like being in neutral.

Parts are hard as hell to find for these, so keep that in mind. Simple things like brake pads and tie rods usually have to be ordered off the interwebs.

Bottom line: If the carb is perfect and the engine isn't clattering and smoking (bad oil control rings are pretty common on these), then it's probably worth the $1,200. If it needs carb work, I'd walk... or buy it and put a D16 or ZC in it.
