RACE NOTES:

- Lot of lag this week, which may have caused the pileup during the first lap. Didn't see who or what was responsible so everyone gets a warning; drive smart, drive clean, especially in the first few minutes of the race.

- On a related note for the new people this kind of crap doesn't happen often. Normally we have problems actually getting into the race, not during it, so this week was just an outlier. Most people's connections were fine but if yours wasn't one of them it might be worth looking into before next race.

Upper 300's IIRC the mods were a race cam (I think, I'm not looking at it so no idea) and street intake. I had a high diff ratio and made my gearing really short to match, and took about 30lbs off my front and almost 50 lbs off my aero package. As I said I hope to get off the power mods little by little, because this was some of my best tuning yet.

That explains why you were so goddamn quick. I put race tire compound back on and had to subtract about 25hp and add a wing to get back to 1:34. I really need to start tuning myself, I threw like -.1 degree of camber on my rear tires and the ass was planted like a redwood tree throughout the race. Of course we're at Sunset Peninsula these next two rounds so I'm going to have to go back to the high-HP, low-grip setup :|

Schrodinger had a field day on my end. Every single car was flying, falling, stopping, teleporting, etc. I don't know why my internet suddenly decided to crap out. It still won't work right. I'm struggling to watch YouTube in 240p. Hopefully it works for this weekend because I don't know what to do with myself if I'm not racing (and I won't be if I'm still causing lag problems).

In other news, I got a new mic. So potentially that issue will be sorted out. If not, at least my hair won't get stuck in the duct tape that held together my old mic anymore.

Also, I have learned that the Firebird is loosely based on the Camaro. Therefore, from now on the Firebird will be known as THE FLYING SHRIMP.

Iunno if it was me that first corner, but I had literally no where to go, then I got bumped as I was trying to take the corner, which made me cross from the inside to the gravel on the outside.

*shrugs* First time racing online, I got pretty bummed/pissed, thus why after the 9th lap I started doing donuts and just DNFd.

Iunno if I'll be back, you all look like you were having fun, but I was just...not.

I think part of it may have been the fact that the guys at the back have way more BoP power, and Road Atlanta is very straight, so I'd pass in the corners, then get passed on the back straight.

Excuses? Iunno.

Not really sure what was happened, this is the first time in either series we've had problems with the first corner at any track, normally everyone pussyfoots their way through so no one gets fucked over like you did. Not sure if it was lag or what but it was just a really shitty situation and I'm sorry it happened, especially in your first race. If you decide not to come back I completely understand but yeah, that's never really happened before and it's something we try to avoid at all costs. I think Road Atlanta is just a problematic track, tbh.

And as far as getting passed in the straights, that's just kind of how these races work on longer tracks. Our reasoning behind the BoP adjustments is as such: the required upgrades nerf/buff the cars, and the BoP adjustments nerf/buff the drivers. Does it suck for the faster people? Yeah, it does (I was right on the bumper of the guy who won coming out of the carousel onto the back straight and he ended winning by over a second just because of his BoP adjustment). That being said this is honestly this is the best system we've found so far to make it fair for everyone racing, not just the faster dudes. We did a GT car series last year where it took five minutes for the field to finish and people were lapping people and winning by 30+ seconds so it really wasn't fun for anyone, including the winners.

Like I said I'm really sorry this race left such a bitter taste in your mouth; no one intentionally wrecked anyone and this is just the kind of shit you have to understand happens in online racing no matter how much we try and avoid it. We're at Mugello this week so apart from the front straight people's PI adjustments shouldn't be nearly as extreme as they were at Road Atlanta if you want to give it another shot.

I'll see about stopping in this weekend, sure. I do have a couple cars to choose from for the B-class race.

And yeah, if everyone's running the same lap time, it's near impossible to get back up there, I totally understand that. I felt like, I was doing lap after lap solo and driving great, then I get to the online race and I was missing turn-in points, braking points, etc. It just felt different, I think that'll take getting used to.

Yeah, I spent a ton of time tuning for the A550's last Saturday... I was bummed to not be able to make it.

Posting PI's should do exactly that. If you have to publicly share your cars rating, you'll be less inclined to over-do it, and should also share some insight towards those who deliberately handicap themselves to remain competitive with racers who feel the need to pile on the PI.

Yeah, the lap times are a bit of a double-edged sword in that regard; it makes for an inherently fair race but if you get wrecked or go off or anything it really screws you. Kinda like racing in real life.

There must be some kind of difference between online lobbies and hot laps because I've noticed the same thing too. Also doesn't help you got 10 other people talking in your ear and driving a few feet away from you. It's just stuff you have to get used to, which is why we have practice sessions a few times a week.
