My sister had an '01 Beetle that I did all the work on, for free, because I'm a loving older brother. After $$$ spent on special tools, and 345,923 swear words I finally convinced her to get an '09 Forester! I told her that I would happily do anything within my skills for her Subaru.
She absolutely loves the Forester and since she has to haul gear around for her job, life has gotten much better. I know some people love VW's and I would really like a TDI Sportwagen, maintenance is a nightmare. Much respect to the enthusiasts that work on them regularly.
