Further proof that we don't want the new Ford Police Interceptors.

Just passed a felony (most likely) traffic stop with at least 8 Police cars in one of DC's wealthiest suburbs. Every single one of them was a Crown Vic.

I think the big cities that stocked up on them will have them around for awhile before switching over eventually.... all the small towns around here just got a mix of Taurus and Explorers.

OPP still rocking Crown Vics. Local cops have mostly switched to Impalas and Tauruses.

Seattle PD ran out of room in their Crown Vics for all the shit they're supposed to carry at all times now. They're switching to explorers, but between slightly lower cop "handling" suspension, that same crap that they had to stuff into the Vics, and the 200 pound armored doors for all the shootouts we have in Seattle... They're so low they scrape on speed bumps, and body roll like crazy.

Makes tons of sense, right?

My friend's dad is 25 year veteran officer and it holding on to his Panther as long as he possibly can

Awesome! The Panther will never really be replaced.

I think the SPD does a pretty good job. I love their steel blue Crown Vics with goofy pyramid lights

Or just can't afford them.

Trust me, they can afford them. A "cheap" house in this area is in the ballpark of $400,000.

Pretty much what my hometown is and they still have budget problems.

Yeah they've always been pretty reasonable in my experience, Washington in general is pretty chill unless you're in one of those towns where most of the PD's revenue is giving tickets to people driving through haha.

Idk though, I've been seeing more almost unmarked cars (dark blue/grey on just barely darker blue/grey livery with low profile light bars) doing traffic stops and such, hope we're not heading towards the states where you can be given a ticket by an unarmed Infinity SUV with non-gov plates haha.

I find that photo jkm posted funny. Like, the photographer attempted to make a cop car look "cool" by having the car setup in the 3 quarters view like its ready for a car show. lol

"DC's wealthiest suburbs."

That's a very, very broad list, man. All of Fairfax, and Loudoun fit this bill (especially Ashburn).

Basically, any area that is within 30 minutes of Katie's qualifies.

Arlington was the place I saw them.

I mean, there's still hoarding of Crown Vics as far down as Prince William. We've got tons of new Tauruses, but the Vics are just as prolific.

Even the State Police are still mostly using Panthers.

Everyone appears to have been hoarding them. Out of every 10 Police cars I see, about 8/10 of them are still CVPIs.

There won't be a proper successor to them. Recently, I've seen some '03-'06 models still being used by Maryland Troopers. Which isn't common at all, since they usually update their fleets pretty fast.

Ohio State troopers and most cops have switched mainly to Chargers with a decent mix of Explorers. I see a few Crown Vics now and again but they are rapidly being replaced here.

The Chargers aren't even being touched by the Virginia troopers and local cops. The rear visibility is horrible, the engines aren't good and they are fairly cramped.

I wouldve never known, they're so common here. I assumed most departments liked them.

I've mentioned it few times before, but my local department bought shitloads of Chargers when they first came out and then within a year had replaced them with Crown Vics again.

Haven't seen any of your comments on that but dang. That bad? The Dayton cops(nearest real city) are enjoying the Taurus but all the other departments I see have the Charger/Explorer mix. I think one other suburb may have a couple Caprice PPVs but that's it around here. The Crown Vics are a lot easier to spot which is why I like them, the the super bright solid silver livery the troopers wear now make up for it.
