So in looking for the perfect family vehicle that matches fun and practicality I've been noticing the Chevy HHR SS. I know it's a lot of Letters but does anyone else have any experience with them? I would imagine it drives like a heavier slobalt.
the one pictured is a 5-speed manual with 82,000 miles on the clock for a shade under 10k I did find ones with less miles or cheaper but they didn't have the manual and the 4 speed auto in my wife's cobalt kinda blows

I have this fleeting memory that somebody on Oppo was using one for delivery for a while. Couldn't say who - but that would be at least one HHR driver in our midst.

My only problem is there aren't any within 50 miles to look at.

Fast and fun. But you will probably end up doing front end work. Everyone I know that has had an HHR (standard or SS) has had issues.

Solid Ecotec engines, lots of mods for it (not so sure about the chassis, though), neat Getrag gearbox.
These are pretty sweet little trucks. And mark my word, the Panel SS will be a collectible someday, they are so rare.

Ford needs to make a fast Transit Connect wagon. All the parts are there. Ecoboost all the damn things. And AWD

My father has two these things and one of them is a black panel version.

If a Cobalt is a Neon, Then an HHR is a PT Cruiser

can't say I'm a fan of these. I think Mr. Regular put it best when he described it as "Chevy's 'me too!' PT cruiser."

SS?
If so, hold on to it, it will be worth much more than they are now, I guarantee it!

I have a few years-worth of experience with a standard HHR (super-base rental model) and it's a fun beater. The interior quality leaves a LOT to be desired but it was durable as all hell and easy to keep clean. Handling wise...let's just say my automatic HHR took first place in the H-Street autocross championship and it had quite a bit of competition.

I wish there was a panel Magnum...Im so tempted to find a way to delete the back passenger doors, but I need to seat 5 once in a while, so it wouldnt be practical..

I sorta kinda like both this and the Dodge Caliber SRT4. Because I like slightly ridiculous turbocharged tall hatch things. The only problem is the Caliber and HHR are dreadful overall.
The HHR reminds me of an old refrigerator, except the old refrigerator is cooler. Both literally and metaphorically.

Nifty design but typical GM-of-that-era cheapness all around. The Ecotecs are great motors, though.

join me! I own two SS for him 2lt for her. Stick with the manual my wife's auto is teh suck. The only problem is it is a very thirsty DD. Even with a light foot I get around 14-16 mpg city

I'll admit to liking these more than I should. It seems to be great for what you're looking for in a car.

I think the look and the idea is better than the execution.
I knew someone that had one. It was no Toyota in terms of reliability.
