Kinja'd!!!

I've got $2,000 burning a hole in my pocket tonight. Can you find a pre-1970 two-seat sports car in the Toronto area for that amount? I want a sports car for the summer! (Photo for inspiration)

Since there's nothing pre-70, will you take on the shape of things to come?

Eh, a little over. $5000 for a Hillman Minx .

$1500 for a 1968 Triumph . May need an LS swap.

1980 Triumph TR7 for $2000 . Newer, but it looks like it in one piece.

That's all I can find for now.

EDIT:

Have you considered a Mercury Montego for $3000 ?

Also, fuck your price range.

That thing's actually decently clean. I'd consider it if I weren't so bent ongetting something from the 60's

If you buy something in (rust free) Arizona, I'd drive it to Toronto. Always wanted an excuse to go and I love roadtrips!

Why the 60s? Here you get a polarizing, unique, rare, and incredibly special Triumph. You have French Blue paint, and it is one of only 28,864 soft-top TR7s ever produced.

It's cool, don't get me wrong. But I've just wanted a 60's sports car forever. I even consider buying that but I'm going to hold out for something older. I really just want a 60's sports car to match my '69 Chrysler.

I totally wish I could but the Canadian dollar sucks so much dick right now. I'd lose 25 cents on each dollar I spent through the exchange rate. :( But I totally would buy something out of Arizona after the dollar stabilizes. Could you check out a car for me if I found something?

I hear you on that, but they're unobtanium for that budget.

It's cool (and BMC powered!) but Kansas is way far for me and the CDN dollar is so weak right now that I'd lose a lot of dough in the exchange rate.

I bought my 1969 Chrysler for $1700 and my friend bought his 1968 Datsun Roadster for $2100. The deals are out there if you shop. I believe I can find one under $3000 with patience.

Dang, didn't look at location. Searched Canada ebay & stuff, that's the only nonamerican rust bucket prior to 70 on Canada ebay.

Good luck

Certainly! And, didn't realize the Canadian dollar was doing so poorly, damn! :(

You could always move to AZ, where it's always summer-convertible weather, and much more affordable than Toronto!

Phoenix is nice — I lived there for years. Up in Flagstaff now, though. I missed the snow. That said, offer still stands — I love random day trips, especially to check out cars. No problem driving anywhere in AZ, or out to Vegas or SoCal.
