Seriously. It takes effort and/or cash to find a decent stereo head unit or PC case that doesn't look like its primary inspiration was the first Fast & Furious movie as viewed by a Mountain Dew and Ritalin addled 15 year old. I'm also starting to shop for motorcycle gear for the summer, and I'm encountering some similar issues. No, I don't want a giant brand name and stupid logo across my back, chest, and ass thank you.

With the computer case issue, check out Fractal Design. Really well made, easy to work in, plenty of room for expandability and are for the most part just a black box with or without a door on the front.

I've got a Cooler Master that is the definition of plain-Jane. The simple stuff exists out there, you just have to look a little bit harder for it.

Perfect. I'm tired of this white/black/red with sixteen color LEDS and a Predator grill nonsense.

Yeah that's true. It just sucks when there's great deals on what would otherwise be a solid product except it looks like crap. I'll look into those though.

You might also look into home theater cases. Most of the time, they are designed to be pretty incognito in a living room.

This is my current case, although I'm looking to upgrade. My issue is that I don't want a bigass window on the side of it, but most cases come that way. Once again, just gotta keep looking.

Corsair Carbine 330R.
as far as head units go, there's slim pickings unless you go double-din touch screens I reckon. There's a few android powered things on Ebay etc that I was thinking of getting down the track, but can't actually recommend them cause they could be cheap POS for all I know

Do they come in full ATX or are they typically sized like an amplifier or something? Honestly I'll probably end up getting a stupid looking one because $100 I save on a shitty looking case is $100 I can put towards a graphics card or something. I'll definitely keep my out for deals in that category though.

I had the hardest time finding a single DIN head unit that didn't look like a Tiburon.
Day or night.
And I also can't stand branded gear, either.

Yeah that's pretty subdued, although I do spy an LED in there ; )
Like I said to another commenter, I'll probably end up going with a stupid looking one unless I can find a good deal on a more attractive one, just because ultimately how it looks doesn't matter as much as how it performs. Sucks that the market is so skewed towards the ugly ones though.

Wow that's actually a perfect case. Thanks! I'm actually not buying a head unit any time soon, but I do know that they are a prime example of what I was complaining about. Sucks : /

It's a mix of both. Also, you might look DIY cases as an image search and see if that takes you anywhere you want to go. Saw a few neat ones... one made out of copper pipe, for example.

The light isn't too bad. You could probably remove it if your wanted to. And yeah, I agree about the price and attractiveness.

I'll DIY my own case that looks like an ugly stereo head unit. Slap a couple Alpinestars stickers on there and call it a day.

Beards by Nelly actually pointed me towards a really awesome one in his comment that doesn't look super lame and is actually very reasonably priced. I haven't done too much research on it yet but I'm definitely considering it.

My solutions.
For computer cases I just keep modifying the mounting and airflow in an old Dell dimension case I got back in 99. Like this one:
For head units, keep a stock one in place and mount the gaudy one in the glove box.
