Saw these poor souls on the way to the train station this morning.
Why is it always trucks/SUVs?
It looks as if this Tacoma went for quite the ride. Appears it was sideways long before it left its lane. It's a downhill approach to the turn, so I think there may have been panic involved and they was along for the ride.
This Jeep was on a perfectly straight exit. No idea how this happened.
Honorable mention: This Legacy wagon.
It was just sitting there on the other side of the parkway in the left lane. Not on the shoulder, but stopped right there.
Not sure if it stuck or if head gasket.

It's always trucks because 4-wheel-drive makes them invincible in snow, duh.

Mostly because people buy a 4x4 without knowing how to operate it outside of regular good weather conditions and think the vehicle will miraculously help them and do everything it needs to do to get them to where they want to be without doing a thing.
You're only as strong as your weakest link. So if the driver can't operate the machine how can the machine do what it's supposed to or needed to do.

There's enough slush on the road that almost bald tires could easily cause a spin. Truck tires are expensive, and if I remember correctly, you're in VA, so most of the time nearly bald tires won't give you issues. Also, most Trucks/SUVs send power to the back wheels, so oversteer, especially in combination with the aforementioned nearly bald tires.

It also seems like the bigger the truck, the more it needs to slow down for speed bumps. I'm not sure if there's a connection.

laughing so out loud my coworkers are turning to look :D
isn't this just exactly what we want to do to all the morons who crash because of overconfidence in the snow?
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

Step 1 - winter tires
Step 2 - weight in back
Step 3 - don't drive fast around coroners and let off the gas.

Since I'm here in the south we don't get snow much. We get a lot of cold rain like last night. I did see a Porsche that spun out facing the wrong way on a gentle bend a few weeks ago on a rainy morning.

LOL. When I got to the train this morning, I texted Mrs McMike and told her that it was so slippery that I needed to use some sheepskin to get out of the neighborhood this morning.
It wasn't until she said "WHAT???" that I realized that Android didn't know what "wheelspin" was.

I think sheep skin would have helped?

Well, bigger trucks have stiffer suspension than most passenger cars.

Yeah. Because they're supposed to deal with heavier loads. In other words, they're more than capable of handling things like speed bumps without having to come to a complete stop.

They're capable of handling it, everyone in the cab won't be able to stay in their though. Also, if there's anything in the bed, good luck keeping it there if you hit a speed bump with any kind of speed.
