Remember that !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! the Iranians made of a US Nimitz Class carrier? Speculation that they were going to blow it up turned out to be correct. Using fast patrol boats and a few missiles, they destroyed it during some war games. I'd like to see how successful they would be if the carrier were actually shooting back.

LAWL. Every time I see the video of the little boats I think of them in a apache gun camera video.

That, and I think CIWS would like a word as well. Thing is, though, if you send enough of them, there's a good chance one or two will get through.

Lol, let's see them try the real thing again and we'll see what happens.

Thing is the carrier will never be alone in combat. They would be blown out of the water if they came within 200 Nm of a carrier.

They seem to forget that carriers tend not to go around by themselves. Or sit still. Or have any airplanes.

Well, it's not impossible. Our carriers do actively patrol in the Gulf, so they have to go through the Strait of Hormuz.

As I replied to somebody else, you don't find a carrier sitting alone and stationary in the ocean. CAP, multiple screening ships, and CIWS if any happen to get through.

It's easy to blow up a big heavy aircraft carrier without all those pesky aircraft fighting back.

Odd that the subs are surfaced. Might be for the picture though.

Yeah there is a risk when going through the straight.
This simulation was dumb because it makes them look bad and isn't a true simulation. But there are risks.
