School let out at 11. Snow was comin down and sticking. A junior's '96 Mustang GT spun out in a patch of snow at about 5 mph (straight pipes made it easy to tell haha)

He was probably just showing off, It inspired me to ask this question.

I nominate the 1970 Chevelle SS 454.

Kinja'd!!!

450hp (the most of its kind),

Front heavy with RWD

No traction or stability control, or ABS

Older AMGs.

Stupid amount of power.

Even stupider amount of torque.

Ultra low profile tyres.

And gonna cost a shit ton and a half to fix the damage from when you inevitably go flying off the road and slam into a tree.

Counterpoint: El Camino SS 454. Everything you just said, with even goonier weight distribution.

1986 Monte Carlo SS.

Lighter than the Chevelle, Auto Trans Only, RWD. very little weight over the rear tires. 3.73 rear gears.

Take that Chevelle and remove most of the weight off the rear wheels...

Worst I ever tried was a early 70s ish flatbed on the farm. Worn mismatched tires along with too much torques/not enough weight meant I had to walk back in which got me reamed for both being late and leaving the truck in the field. Grandpa then dragged me back out to show me how to 'fucking drive'. Two hours later we walked back in again...my fingers were barely functioning.

That Chevelle with a manual transmission, posi rear end and some snow tires would be just fine and dandy in the snow.

I nominate 2 cars. G35 coupe with stock rubber. Unable to crack 25 mph with traction control on, and just plain uncontrollable at any speed without tcs. With the same 3 inches of snow, the Mazda protege 5 with the stock Dunlap tyres, surprisingly useless. Counterpoint, a 1982 bmw 320 is (not at all fast) some of the best driving in snow EVAR!

2WD pickup with a Viper engine.

It will do a 720 if you look at the accelerator funny on a snowy road.

Probably.

I'm going to say the Suzuki Esteem. It's probably (in relative terms) one of the worst cars ever made in general. It's FWD, but if it can find a way to be more terrible at something than it reasonably should be, it will.

My E60 M5 was truly atrocious in snow. The E39 M5 wasn't much better.

The answer is always Miata - on summer tires.

My first one came with Dunlop SP8000s, and we took it for a cruise right after we got it - in January. We briefly stopped in a plowed parking lot with a light layer of well packed snow. Discount all-seasons would've gripped well enough for us to roll out slowly. These tires just spun and spun and spun, even at idle, with absolutely no grip at all.

What's worse - getting moving and then crashing, or not being able to move at all?

Pontiac Fiero. Pre traction control, pre ABS, low weight. Now plenty of it's weight is over the rear tires, so you'll have traction, but the front end is relatively light, which leads to easy front brake lockups.

This is actually true of plenty of mid-rear cars though.
