The problem with going to school at WVU is there are no driving events within a reasonable distance for me while I'm here. I was just looking for Autocross events and stuff to do early spring and late summer, but nothing is close enough to handle over a weekend between classes. Summit Point is 3.5hrs away. Closest events I found were in Pittsburgh but those were at least a 1.5hr drive

You could always start running hooch for the locals.
And running your car on it.
And/or get into muddin'.

An hour and a half really isn't that bad

Alternatively, start a car club, get an empty parking lot, and munch some cones.

If I had to commit a crime to sustain myself...running shine would be it. Plus nobody would expect the trunk of a Miata to be full of white lightening.

Physically having to drive is not what bothers me, its the extra gas money and time it takes.

I like the idea but I really have no idea how I could accomplish this.

Why don't you join the WVU Formula SAE team . You could probably end up as their driver and they would at least know where to autocross locally.
SCCA Southern West Virginia Region races at Riverside HS near Belle, WV.
I hear they have autocross events in Elkins and Cumberland. There's also a corvette club autox in Parkersburg that open to all.
