Incidentally I parked next to a 944 when I pulled in. Other than a faded decal on the driver's side, it looked great.

Sure enough I found the driver digging around under this hood in the yard. She was looking for a starter motor, but was aghast as whatever someone had stuck in the junkyard one at some point wasn't even remotely similar to her setup, she claimed.

that set up makes me want to crawl right under and start taking parts off. Looks very safe

No kidding. I only come here for cosmetic bits (which are always gone long before I can make it out).

You'll never catch any part of me under any of those damn things.

Wasn't similar? How could that be?

I have no idea. The parts puller she was with surmised that the previous owner had replaced the ignition setup with something entirely not Porsche after it had failed.

Hard to confirm if is anything was truly tinkered, as someone had come in and stripped the interior to absolutely nothing. No dash, no cluster, no controls, no door panels, which were all in place last month
