That said, I did have to drive around normally for a while, and xDrive is fucking fantastic.

We got a bunch of snow in NYC yesterday. I'll never buy a car without AWD or 4WD again. It's amazing the difference it makes in handling and security.

Handling and security in the snow comes from your right foot and your tires, not the number of driven wheels.

What are those tires called?

While this is partially true, AWD does too. This BMW is a rental. I normally drive a Focus ST, of which I've got snow tires on right now. Said Focus is in the shop due to an accident. The snow tires make a DRASTIC difference, but the AWD helps immensely. Acceleration is unbelievable.

Good tyres and driving skill are obviously huge, but AWD can make things a lot easier. Even on wet roads you can notice the extra stability you get from a good AWD system.

I'll agree with that. Although AWD Doesn't help you stop any better but I'm sure you know that. Awd+snow tires = animal in the snow

yup, braking is still to be done very much ahead of time. It was SO slick last night, I was worried about leavin the car parked on the street. Last thing I need is a wrecked rental lol

Yep, RWD. Just an RT. You have to really be looking for an SRT to buy one right now, the prices are insane lately. Can be anywhere from $15k to nearly $30k. Mine was just short of $7k after taxes/title/registration.

Take a peek here .
