Here's a car you probably forgot about, or didn't know existed. Karmann (known for designing the VW Karmann Ghia and BMW E9) designed this 318ti-like compact in 1998.

I guess BMW forgot about it too, because the semi-convertible-pickup seems to be the only niche they haven't filled. Maybe this was supposed to be the original 2-Series? More pictures:

"Hans, the buttresses aren't big enough."

"Okay, how about now?"

"NOT BIG ENOUGH!"

"Fuck you, Fritz."

"Okay, you've asked for it."

"Hey, what are you doing with that stick- AAHHH!! THE PAAAAIN!!!"

"That'll teach you to mess with me."

Hans is hurt.

The only niche they haven't filled yet ...

It'll join the SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle; X5), SAV (Sport Activity Vehicle; X6) as the SCV, Sport Camino Vehicle, named Y(insert numerical based on size here).

Wonder why the door doesn't match.

I would rock a BMW El Karmannino. Apart from my early electrical issues (not entirely their fault) I've enjoyed my Karmann Crossfire.

Great find. I've never heard of that and I have straight ugly "ti". Side view is bad but rear with dropped middle line in bumper looks much better than regular. This should have been made like this from the beginning ( regular shape ti body with hatch window opening on it's own). With easy lowered hatch access it would stand out more from rest of E36 body styles, not as just simple cutted ass "coupe for a german-mum". Oh and rear would be heavier that way which is really needed for this car in my experience.
