So I went to Ace Hardware, they didnt have the Aluminum Shouldered Sheet Metal Screw. So I went to Discount Tire, They didnt have it but they said if I went to the Ford dealer, they would reimburse the cost. So I thought "Great, I can fix it today for free". Nope, the screw has been discontinued by Ford, the closest dealer that had one (5 actually) is in Burlington, Colorado. I called them, and they are mailing me a screw and faxing me a receipt to bill Discount Tire with. As much as I dislike Discount for screwing up, they seem to own up to their mistakes and do the right thing to correct them.

In my experience Discount has always been pretty legit. Glad to see they're trying to make things right.

Glad you're getting it sorted, but I'd have just gone to a wrecker. Maybe all the '90s Ferd stuff is all gone by now, but these used to be as common as dirt. It's funny to me that the guys at the tire shop were unfamiliar with that type of centre cap. They were as common as dirt on Ford trucks/SUVs in the '80s & '90s. Ranger, Bronco II, F-150, Bronco, all used those on various wheels.

Have you found a scrapyard with Rangers in it yet?

Good plan. You might want to make a list of what you're going to be looking for after inspecting your truck for parts that you could find in better condition.

If you're hitting the scrapyard, look for a Bronco II or a later Edge. Grab the rear sway bar. You won't believe how much better it handles.
