Until recently my favorite was the Cayenne, the base model 6 cylinder 3.whatever liters. But the older ones are growing on me, if I had a bit more money I would DD a 1977 2.7. I bet maintenance would still be cheaper than the C5. I would have a mechanic named Hans, a retired Porsche mechanic that now owns his own shop named "Stuttgart Auto" and I would send him chocolates on holidays because I'm a nice customer.

Haha, I love this. Hans sounds nice. Maybe he squints a little, and occasionally you cant understand a sentence he says. Maybe he even charges a bit more than he rightfully should, but you know he does a damn good job and is worth it!

If money wasn't a factor I'd DD A Cayman GTS.I really love the look of the Boxster/Cayman. You can even get them in brown. But not green :(. The GT3 is too much for me tho, and the newer 911s(or really any car over 100,000 dollars) do nothing for me.

Did South American cars get full emissions controls like the US cars? The 2.7s here were terrible in stock form, with thermal reactors just cooking the heads, really soft valve guides, and brittle head studs.

I guess we got both US and EU cars as they were all private imports during the dictatorship.

Hans occasionally rambles about suspension bits and engine compression in german, but I doesn't matter, he can speak to the cars.

Late to this but I'll say it anyway. 1974 cars like my dad's didn't have the thermal reactors or emissions crap, so if you want any stock 2.7 that isn't a Carrera RS/RSR, I'd think '74 would be the best year; also the reason my dad didn't purchase a '75 car back in 1975.
