Those can't seriously be BMW headlights on a Mercedes product, can they?

Still looks better than that other 5GT.

Actually it seems like, in Asia as well as Australia (and New Zeland for that matter, that bus is in Auckland), buses are not sold by the brand they have the badge of. The badge just means it's a Mercedes chassis. Same thing goes for Scania, Volvo and Man buses from what I saw so far. The body is, I think, made by an independent shop. That's why I saw so buses wearing a Volvo badge and having the same body and headlights as this one.

I wonder what Mercedes would say if they caught wind of this.

I was wondering when someone would see it ^^ Saw a nice VR4 wagon yesterday. And a few RS6 too. no SR20 though, but I saw a C6 sedan the day I landed (so Monday), and today I so both a RS6 sedan (C5 gen) and a brand new wagon.

Yes, buses are usually made like this. A truth company supplies the chassis and a coachbuilder does the rest.
The chassis builder usually insists on badging the front so you can see the same body with, say, Merc or Volvo badges.
