You didn't know about these? Renault Samsung Motors is Renault's South Korean subsidiary. They're basically just Nissans.

They were going to sell the SM5 here as a new Mitsubishi Galant, but couldn't make it work for the right price, given the exchange rates. It's a rebadged Renault Laguna and uses the same platform as the Altima & Maxima. That was probably our only chance of seeing their models here, unless Mitsubishi goes back to the negotiating table.

Huh, pretty cool!
I thought it was a Proton or something at first and then thought that calling it a Samsung might have been a mix up or something.
Also note that the ad is very well put together, haha.

That era SM3 was basically a straight rebadge of the Nissan Sunny, which was the JDM version of our Nissan Sentra. The current one is based on the Renault Megane, but has some minor styling changes.
It is well written for a CL ad, but I really wonder how many prospective customers in Seoul will be reading an English posting. I mean, I guess there are a lot of military personnel and educational workers and so forth.

It's probably military folks who are reading it on Craigslist. I'm guessing that there's a few localized sites where the owner can put the ad.

I'm in Korea right now, all the Samsung cars I've been seeing are just Nissans. I was in one a few weeks ago and it was just a Maxima.

Pictured: a Samsung car you can buy in the US. Seriously, about 1/2 of the Rogues I encounter at work have a VIN that starts with a K.
