so I recently starter playing Gran Turismo 4, and it had been a challenge.
Some observations:
Do not, for the love of everything holy buy a Honda City Turbo 2 as your first car. It might look like a really cheap, fun and capable little car. It isn't. There is a reason why it's so cheap. Too slow even for the Sunday cup. I had to slave away many laps to raise some money for upgrades. I put in a total of $25.000 into that car. It did not help at all.
As soon as possible, buy a Suzuki cappuchino (ea11r). Cheap and awesome with cheap drivetrain mods.
Go to the suzuki dealership and play the Suzuki k-car race on Autumn Ring. Easy money. 5k for 4 laps.
Do not spend all your money on a MG F for the MR cup. It was $24.000 and it is useless against the NSX and Esprit turbo that dominate the MR series.
Cars are worthless after you buy them.I wanted to sell my 24k MG after one race and all I could get was $1.200. Yeah no.
Do buy the 95' Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 Turbo. Goes like hell, sounds like a spaceship and outperforms a Ford RS2000..
I repeat: do not buy the Honda Shitty Turbo 2. It's a disaster.
These are my observations so far after playing for about a week.

Why do you defend stance?

I used to love this game. Still do, to be honest.
I always started out with a Miata. I beat the Sunday Cup a few times, then I would buy a '97 Z28 from the used car lot. That lasted a while one it was upgraded well.

Make a GT3 save on the same memory card your GT4 save is on and restart your GT4 game. You can import either 12 or 15,000 credits into your new GT4 save. This will let you buy a much better starter car. I'd recommend a new Mini or a new Camaro. Both will keep you going for a while in many series.

Did you do the thing where you win the Toyota RSC, sell it and then repeat the process to get cash quickly?

I got a free PS2 a few years ago, and i bought a logitech wheel/pedal/shifter setup to go with it. I played gt4 for a bit, loved the gameplay with the feedback wheel, decided game took too much time. Then I found a complete unlocked save file on memory card on ebay. $11 dollars later, I had every car and every track with 99,999,999 credits. Now it's just fun to see what's it's like to hurl a 700 hp cobra around the nurburgring.

Also works with the CLK-GTR. But it takes a while to get up to that series; I think the Opel DTM car is the best car for it.

1. Play normally until you can afford the Escudo.
2. Buy the Escudo, and use it in every race for which it is eligible.
3. Laugh your ass of at its overpowered dominance.
4. Buy everything else with your Escudo winnings.

A good first car is the Honda Ballade Sports CRX. It comes in just under budget and leaves you enough cash for like a flywheel or weight reduction.

Nope, this is the best first car in GT4. A few bucks under 10k.

1) Buy a Cappucino
2) Win the Suzuki K-car cup at the Suzuki Showroom and win the S2 (Swift) concept
3) Use that to win the Suzuki Concepts cup at the Suzuki Showroom and win this:
4) Giggle like a japanese schoolgirl as you overtake supercars with your new Hyabusa-powered go-kart

Because not many people like it here, so I made it my sort of 'duty' to inform people about stance and it's many smaller versions. and let them see beyond the stereotypes.

You could transfer over up to 100k, and your A and B licenses actually. That's what I did. I bought a subaru legacy blitzen, a miata, a CR-X, and something else and kitted them all out. Had a pertty solid garage for conquering the game.
