Replace the dead engine in this beautiful $1000 !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ...
With the 500cid V8 from this $1000 !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
They're both BOP bolt pattern blocks, so it should bolt right up no problem right? And I'm sure the 2-speed Olds transmission can handle 380lb-ft of torque without any issues...

Of course you could just get an adapter plate which will enable you to install a much more modern SBC:
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Chevy-to-BOP-T…
The Cadillac 500 will have torque and apparently responds well to upgrades. You could also use an Olds 455, Pontiac 455 or Buick 455... though the Buick is probably the lightest of the 3:

But I'd rather have a more modern engine with fuel injection. And that means the SBC is probably the easiest, cheapest and most reliable route to go.
OOORRRR... if you can get your hands on one, you could install the LD5 Buick V6... aka the Buick Grand National turbo V6:

Step 1) Buy both cars
Step 2) Put 500cid V8 in Olds
Step 3) Mount 5 speed
Step 4) Increase power (weren't the 500 caddies woefuly underpowered?)
Step 4) Profit
Step 6) LeMons

Yeah but a SBC is a bit boring. Also smacks of having thought things through, instead of simply attempting to cram 500cid of torque monster goodness into an unsuspecting Oldsmobile.

I just realized something... it does NOT have the BOP bellhousing pattern.
The BOP pattern was apparently used on "Post-1965 Buick / Oldsmobile / Pontiac RWD V8's"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_G…
And this is PRE-1965. The 394 has it's own pattern. Here a link related to what you'll have to deal with:
