I recently saw a tv ad for this CPO program. Sure you get newer low mileage vehicles under 15,000 miles yet the warranty only covers 5yrs/75,000 miles and the regular CPO program has a limit of 6yrs/100,000 miles. The Elite program has cars under 1 year old and the regular CPO program has older vehicles. The "Elite" image in the name and the yuppie driving the car in the ad isn't catering to too much people. It must make a prospective regular CPO buyer feel better seeing the "Elite" misnomer (because you're not elite and you don't drink your champagne with your pinky finger out). BMW basically took the ideal of the Jalopnik Gold Iridium Spark Plug Carbon Elite membership, well done.
EDIT: to clarify the difference between Elite CPO and regular CPO

Wait...that makes the elite program sound worse than the regular CPO. You didn't mix anything up there, right? That's how both of the programs work?
If so...what the fuck...what kind of idiot toolbag is going to go with the worse-off program just because it has the word 'Elite' in it?

regular CPO are generally older and have greater than 15k miles. Elite CPO has the less than 15k and are less than 1 year old. BMW has been shooting itself in the foot lately.

is that right? My M3 was under 15k miles but 3 yrs old when I bought it CPO Elite. I didn't realize it was only an additional year of coverage. I thought it would be 6 yrs just like my last CPO M3. I will never hit 75k miles by then so the time matters more to me. I was disappointed to find out it was only 12 months of coverage past the standard 4 yr warranty, and may not of bought it had I known that. I paid a premium compared to a non CPO M3 for what will equate to 2-3k miles of extra coverage.

The ad mention less than 1 year. Since its local ad I'm guessing its not correct. I do know the regular CPO 6 yrs up to 100k miles and 6 years of roadside service.

I just bought a 2013 328i M-Sport that was 1 year old, and had 14k miles on it (absolutely love it BTW). It was listed on the lot as CPO Elite.
Thankfully, I did my research beforehand. I told my salesperson he'd need to find a way to take the "Elite" status off—AKA give me my extra year and extra mileage of the regular CPO warranty—to make the deal happen. A quick nod and a trip to the manager's office later, the change was made and we sealed the deal.
I have 5yrs/86k miles of warranty left from my date of purchase, which would've been 4yrs/61k with the Elite status. This is a scam that's sure to catch some folks buying CPO BMW's. My sales guy even acknowledged the "Elite" status is misleading.
Lesson of the day? CPO > CPO ELITE

I guess it could be their own local policy. Maybe that dealer doesn't do the Elite on anything older than 1 year.
I think the whole Elite option was created not too long ago Because I had never heard of it until after I bought mine 6 months ago. Otherwise I would of asked for the regular CPO 2 yr coverage.
