Any tips/tricks/whatever to get these bitches out? Its rounded off, wont budge even with a heavy dose of PB Blaster and taking a blow torch to it isnt working either. Tried vise grips and everything with no luck. Might just have to get a new caliper. Help?

I don't see a frozen bleeder screw, I see an excuse to upgrade your brakes.

Haha it's not my car. My mother's Jeep. I just need to get the damn brakes working again.

Take a file or grinder and make flat spots on the top and bottom of the head so you can get an adjustable wrench over it.

It is a bitch, sometimes you have to soak it for a while, then heat it and cool it, torch/water a few times to loosen it. Put the PB on right after the last cooling. If that doesn't work I don't know, maybe one of those grabber bits with an impact.

Haven't tried a helical bolt extractor?

You can buy a tool for that. It is a cap that goes over the bleeder screw and you strike it with a hammer. Sounds weird, but it works.

Run them over a few times.

Might be time for a new caliper then. Sucks, but it's better wasting time and hoping you can get it free without stripping the threads.

Warm up the caliper - it probably only needs to be warm, not even hot, but make sure it's warm through so it retains the heat for a bit. Then ice the head of the bolt long enough for it to conduct all the way through. It may come out at that point.

Otherwise, have you tried an impact driver?

Torch the screw and surrounding block and get it as hot as you can, then while it is still hot hit the inside of the bleeder screw with an upside down can of compressed air. You want to maximize the temperature differential to force separation between the block and screw. Make it glow if you can. I would repeat 3x, with a strong hit from a ballpeen hammer(or similar) straight on in between. A socket that fits over the bleeder but not around the nut might be useful to assist in the hammering.

Got any left hand drill bits? You can drill it out. By using a left hand bit sometimes itll break free before you get all the way thru it and back itself out. Otherwise drill it slightly undersize, tap the threads to clean them up, blow out any chips, and replace.

This happened to me a few months ago. If you're handy, drill it out and use a tap to cut the rest of the bleeder's threads out of the threading in the caliper. It's still holding well for me, so if you've decided you need a new caliper anyway then it's worth a shot to try and save a little money.

I don't have a tap yet unfortunately. I decided to just get a new caliper. 15 bucks after the core charge so its no big deal. Thanks anyways!

My impact driver is shit. Rarely use it! Haha I ended up getting a new caliper. It was cheap and the rubber on the piston of the old one was showing some wear so it had to go.
