I read into the second paragraph and say this line "In the time we lost 158 lives fighting in Afghanistan, about 27,000 Canadians died on our roads" It seemed very misleading so I decided to do some math.

Using the total number of licensed drivers in Canada there was 1 death per every 803 licensed drivers, and thats only for the statistics available for 2004. Using the numbers of Canadians that were deployed into Afghanistan there was 1 death per every 253 deployed soldiers. Sorry, comparing driving to serving in the armed forces isn't really there when you look between the lines.

yup, basically an easy way for the soccer moms to think driving is a major hazard. There isn't a way of comparing them so much, a lot of the accidents caused could be avoided by taking proper precautions, but since not everybody does, it doesn't work.
