This is what my August is looking like.
This is really going to screw up my maintenance schedule. I always seem to hit my service interval at the end of the season, so I can casually do the work in the garage in the winter.
This extra 3,200 miles in the middle of my season are going to mess that up.
Apparently, all the hotels in South Dakota are sold out because there is some sort of motorcycle party they have out there. I’ve heard there is a dress code, so effective immediately, I have stopped shaving and bathing.
As of last week, I understand that there might be vacancy in Wyoming.

Awesome! I've always wanted to do a long trip on a bike - Every one I take with my bike has it in a trailer.
Can't tell on the road choice - How much of that is interstate?

Virtually all of his route is interstate.

It's all fucking interstate. While I would like to lazily go through the countryside, It's ~1,600 miles each way, and we're shooting for 400/day at a minimum.
We're hoping to have an extra day to play with at the end so we can run through the Shenandoah Mountains and the southern route on the way back.

Sturgis...as cool as the Rally is, with everything and the tourists that it attracts, as someone who lives in the Black Hills and deals with it every year, sometimes it gets to be a bit much. Don't get me wrong, I love the Rally, but not necessarily all of the people who come for it. The asshole influx greatly exceeds the influx of actual pleasant tourists...
